Thermodo is a tiny electrical thermometer that lets you measure the temperature right where you are. For iPhone, iPad, Android & more.
Thermodo consists of a passive temperature sensor built into a standard 4 pole audio jack enclosed by a sturdy housing. This allows your mobile device to read Thermodo’s temperature straight from the audio input. Thermodo sends an audio signal through the temperature sensor. This sensor will then attenuate the signal amplitude depending on the actual temperature. This attenuation can now be detected on the microphone input and through software we calculate the corresponding temperature. Easy peasy! We call this the Thermodo Principle™.

Let me start by saying that using it is actually nearly identical to what the company showed off in its newest demo video. That’s not CGI — it’s what Glass is actually like to use. It’s clean, elegant, and makes relative sense. The screen is not disruptive, you do not feel burdened by it. It is there and then it is gone. It’s not shocking. It’s not jarring. It’s just this new thing in your field of vision. And it’s actually pretty cool.
Ich weiß noch nicht so ganz was ich vom Google Glass Projekt halten soll, finde das Thema allerdings sehr interessant und bin gespannt wie der Markt auf das Produkt reagiert. Denn mit Google Glass sollte man nicht nur die Hipster und Startupper erreichen, um ein Massenmedium zu kreieren.
Glass mit dem Launch eines iPads oder iPhones zu vergleichen ist hier auch nicht wirklich möglich, da die Apple Geräte nur eine Fortführung eines bestehenden Produkts waren, dass beste aus allen Welten sozusagen. Mit Google Glass wird ein völlig neuer Markt kreiert für das es so noch nie eine Zielgruppe gab. Sollte Glass wirklich für ca $1500 in die Läden gespült werden, wird der Absatz eher sehr gering ausfallen.

Ein Chrome-Experiment, inspiriert vom Disney-Film “Die fantastische Welt von Oz”. Mit neuesten Techniken und und Features durch den staubigen Kansas Zirkus und die pulsierende Welt von Oz wandern und an jeder Ecke neues entdecken.
“Find Your Way To Oz”’ desktop version uses many of the web’s more advanced features: Immersive Graphics: WebGL is the basis for the entire 3D environment. This was embellished by CSS3 features including CSS Transitions. The experiment also uses GLSL shaders to engulf users in an ominous-looking tornado. Rich Audio: As the user explores the experiment, the 3D sound dynamically adapts thanks to the Web Audio API. The same API powers the experiment’s music composing section. Camera- based interactions: Through WebRTC’s getUserMedia API, the user can become a circus character or record his/her own mini-movie. The experiment’s mobile web version is also built using open web technologies. These include CSS3 features such as accelerated 3D transforms and sprite sheets. “Find your way to Oz” also uses hardware features like camera, multi-touch, gyroscope and accelerometer to create an experience that can normally only be found in native apps.

Wer sich auch nur geringfügig dafür interessiert, hat sicher bereits mitbekommen das gestern mit
evasi0n der lang erwartete Jailbreak für alle aktuellen iPhone-Generationen und iPads erschienen ist. Besonders daran ist, dass dieser Jailbreak so ziemlich alle Versionen und Geräte auf einmal unterstützt und seit einigen Tagen angekündigt wurde. Richtig interessant ist das aber unter einem ganz anderen Aspekt:
Serverlast durch einen offenen Releasetermin.
Die bisherigen Jailbreaks sind meistens ohne größere Ankündigung released worden, es gab keinen speziellen Termin und keinen Countdown. So war die Serverlast auf die Webseiten und Cydia beim Release von evasi0n natürlich enorm und hier merkt man, dass ein Jailbreak keine Spielerei von einigen Scriptkiddies ist. Die Seite hat durchgehend der immensen Last der Besucher Stand gehalten. Diese Last gibt es jetzt auch in Zahlen:
Vom 30. Januar bis zum 03. Februar waren 2.989.900 eindeutige Besucher auf der Jailbreak-Webseite und haben 17.318.653 PageViews verursacht.
Der Hoster CloudFlare war wohl gut auf den Ansturm vorbereitet, die Download-Mirrors von box.net, MEGA und rapidshare haben ebenfalls beste Arbeit geleistet. Innerhalb weniger Minuten wurde der Jailbreak bereits über 100.000 Mal heruntergeladen.
